REDLANDS, Calif. - Arrie passed March 21, 2008, in Redlands, in the local hospital, after a short illness.
Arrie was born in Yakima, Wash., Jan. 14, 1938, to Frank and Florence (Tormey) Maxwell. As a young child, the family moved to Big Sandy, Mont., where she went to school, graduating from Big Sandy High School. She then furthered her education at the University of Montana in Missoula, earning her bachelor degree and teaching credentials. She moved to San Mateo, where she got her first job. She then received a teaching job in Susanville. After two years, she decided she wanted to teach in Montana so she applied and got a teaching job in Plevna, Mont. Arrie wanted to be closer to home so she moved to Great Falls, Mont., and started a daycare center. This is where she met John DeNoma, an over the road truck driver. They got married and she got her CDL license so she could travel and be a backup driver to John. They moved to Forsyth, Mont., where they managed a motel, then they went to Billings where John transported mobile homes. They moved to Redlands so he could continue to be an over the road driver.
John preceded Arrie in death, as did her parents, brothers Thomas Maxwell and Frank Maxwell Jr. She is survived by her sister, Catherine (James) Green; sister-in-law Helen Maxwell; nephews Frank (Liz) Maxwell, James (Chris) Green, Robert Green; and nieces Cindi (Gary) Kanvick, Shelley Green and Nancy (Jim) Houghton; plus many cousins, great-nieces and nephews.
At her request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, in Redlands. Condolences may be sent to Arrie's sister at [email protected].
